Healthcare Reform

Healthcare reform is on the way.  By now, most have seen the media coverage of the town hall meetings.  I have concluded that the uproar and heated debate on healthcare is deeply rooted in the ambiguity of it all.  We have “heard” of proposed changes in the current healthcare system, but we aren’t certain about the costs and actual details of the bill.  For decades, healthcare reform has been a source of contention between both parties.  Conservatives argue that the price tag is too costly and that balancing the budget should take precedence over any proposed healthcare reform.  The liberals view healthcare reform as an issue of civil rights, arguing that all people should have equal access to affordable healthcare.

Some may recall that in recent years, former Pres. Clinton and his administration attempted to tackle healthcare reform.  It appears that under Pres. Obama, the US is closer than it has ever been to actually reforming the healthcare system.

This bill is estimated to be around 16% of the GDP.  All of the electorate should be informed, as all citizens have a stake in the outcome.

I was able to find a consolidated breakdown of the proposed changes regarding healthcare reform on http://www.insurancejournal.com.  Please review the article and become informed.
