
The US Preventive Services Task Force recently released recommendations stating that women should begin getting mammograms at the age of 50. The American Cancer Society disagrees with these recommendations and still recommends that women begin getting mammograms at the age of 40. Amid the growing controversy over such findings, members of the Obama Administration recently addressed the public stating that these findings would not impact healthcare reform in any way. Just know that most states have laws protecting the right for women to get mammograms, and view the decision as a private matter between the doctor and the patient regardless of age.
