Souls of Mischief is most known for their major hit “93 ‘til Infinity.”  They have a new album on the way and it is called Montezuma’s Revenge. Read on for more on my listening experience.

Why the album works for me:

  1. The lyrics are thoughtful and precise.
  2. I love the underground feel of the album.
  3. The album is cohesive- you get a complete understanding of the direction of the album.
  4. The album has a mellow feel to it.

Here are a few standout cuts on the album:

  1. Postal  (my personal favorite)
  2. One
  3. You Got It
  4. Fourmation
  5. Poets

I’m giving this album 4.8 out of 5 stars.  The album has more of an adult feel to it, in that the emphasis is really on lyrics versus the typical content prevalent in what’s currently dominating the airwaves.  Listeners will find this album refreshing, as the lyrics are really on point. It takes you to a place in time where hip-hop was more about the art form and people that are big fans of the early 90’s era in hip-hop will really enjoy it. I highly recommend this album.
