Can you imagine having your home foreclosed on by mistake due to an error? That’s exactly what happened to a woman out of Las Vegas named Nilly Mauck. She had been living in her condo for two years until this unfortunate incident occurred. The Brenkus Team of Keller Williams re-keyed her home, emptying the unit of all her personal belongings in error. They had intended to re-key a neighboring unit, but re-keyed hers instead. When the team responsible for the error was made aware of the error, they basically refused to eat the costs for replacing her things offering her a whopping $5,000 for her troubles. She is now homeless staying with friends until this matter is resolved.
I don’t know if I am more saddened by the fact that they are only offering her such a small amount of money, or for all of her personal effects she will probably never see again.
“I said give me $100,000 to $200,000 to replace my things because it will take time and that is being generous. And they said, ‘Ok, that is too much.’ She called me that day and told me they were only willing to give me $5,000,” she said. “My clothes, my wedding dress, baby pictures, wedding photos, my dishes, my towels, my jewelry, anything you could possibly have in your house. I kept asking them, ‘Where did you take my things because I was ready to go and dumpster dive,’ and they had no answer for me.”
