Study: Education Improves Chances of Getting Married for Women

According to a review by economists, Betsey Stevenson and Adam Isen, “African-American women who have graduated from college or completed some college are more likely to marry than less-educated groups of black women.”  The findings were based on a review of research gathered between 1950 and 2008.  The review states that college-educated women are more like to get married than their less-educated counterparts.  It also reports that women with more education were more likely to marry later on in life and stay married.  The research shows that college-educated women were less likely to marry for financial security and have fewer children.
