Phylicia Barnes Update: What Restraining Order

There was a restraining order?

New details have emerged about the Phylicia Barnes homicide case.  It now appears that there was an attempt made by Deena Barnes to get a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Michael Johnson.  According to WBTV.com, Deena filed the restraining order because she was being harassed by Michael Johnson.

Judge denies restraining order, saw no point in it

The judge ended up denying the restraining order on March 7, 2011.  Why exactly would a judge do something like that?  Apparently Maryland District Court Judge Shannon Avery didn’t think that Johnson was that much of a threat.  She said that there was “no threat and no actual harassment.”

Here are some interesting scenarios.  Maybe the judge considered this particular situation to be different from others somehow.  She felt like she really understood harassment, and felt that this particular incident bared no resemblance to other cases where she found the restraining order to be appropriate.  Or maybe she felt like the ongoing communication between the two parties was encouraged by Deena Barnes.  Perhaps after reviewing the files of this case, she questioned the timing of the request.  What if she felt like the restraining order would have been filed much earlier if the situation were that bad?  What if the judge thought the one party was being disingenuous about their claims of harassment?  Maybe the judge saw it as a last-ditch effort to redirect suspicion toward other parties involved in the case.

Is this a “move” of some sort to make Johnson appear “dangerous” or not?

Does this then mean that this request for a restraining order was another “move” aimed at making Johnson appear to be crazy?  Or does this mean that Johnson is every bit of dangerous as many believe him to be?  Was it just a planned distraction that was suggested by someone in her circle?

We were under the impression that the Johnson and Barnes weren’t communicating

And here we have yet another inconsistency, apparently the Barnes had been in contact with the Johnson family, so there was opportunity to discuss the events leading up to her disappearance.  Kelly Barnes did state that the two didn’t have any contact with Johnson because the authorities did not want them talking to each other.  When exactly were the Barnes sisters instructed by the authorities to stay away from Johnson and his family?  If that was the case then the restraining order would have been easier to get, right?

The email accounts they’re looking for: ALL IN THE CIRCLE

And now we have confirmed several email accounts for which search warrants were requested.  We know that the authorities wanted access to the email accounts of the younger brother and Michael Johnson.  We don’t know if the Johnson cousin’s email address was included in this request.  In July, there was access was requested to three email accounts  tied to Phylicia Barnes.  Four more email accounts belonging to four Baltimore men were requested, and now we know who two of the men were, if reports are true.  Who were the other two Baltimore men?

Now it looks like authorities are looking to BOTH sides for answers, as they should be.
